Category: the Rant Board

Post 1 by nikos (English words from a Greek thinking brain) on Wednesday, 26-Sep-2007 16:54:47

Hi all.
I don't ever remember starting a rant so i thought that i should create a topick here as well.
The problem is that i don't have anything to rant about. So i am ranting for not having anything to rant about. hahahahaha.
Now you can rant for reading a pointless topick. Go ahead lol.

Post 2 by YankeeFanForLife! (Picapiedra: king of the boards!) on Wednesday, 26-Sep-2007 17:30:55

Rather strange man you are. Lol!

Post 3 by nikos (English words from a Greek thinking brain) on Wednesday, 26-Sep-2007 17:33:24

Its all good. Lets see what the peple have to say about this. Haha!

Post 5 by Blue Velvet (I've got the platinum golden silver bronze poster award.) on Wednesday, 26-Sep-2007 17:48:45

Nikos, you are very lucky not to have anything to rant about. It sounds as if life is going well for you at the present time, and I'm happy to hear that. I have plenty to rant about but won't do it here. I've already bored my friends to death with my problems. LOL

Post 6 by nikos (English words from a Greek thinking brain) on Wednesday, 26-Sep-2007 17:54:28

lol Becky. I don't think there is anyone without anything to rant really. But as you said ranting is better with people who know you and care about you. What's the point ranting here? plus i use this site for having a nice time. If i bring my rants here how would i have a nice time? But i guess it was slightly true that i didn't have anything major to rant about appart from the fact that i am unemployed but after studying having some time off is good in my oppinion so it is not really a rant lol.

Post 9 by Godzilla-On-Toast (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Wednesday, 26-Sep-2007 23:47:30

Now just hold on one single confusticated minute! So you say you created a rant topic under the rant board just for the sake of the creation of the topic when you have nothing to rant about? This is an outrage! *Godzilla stomps his foot in outrage on the ground* Charge this man a rantal fee! LOL!

Post 10 by blbobby (Ooo you're gona like this!) on Thursday, 27-Sep-2007 6:01:41

IN regards to post 1, you are so right Nikos. I'm with you buddy, that makes me really mad too… I mean makes me really happy… I mean……never mind.

I've got to go start another rant topic about happy people ranting in the rant board.

Where's Raskolnikov when you need him? Now animal crackers, there's something worth ranting about.

Post 46 by nikos (English words from a Greek thinking brain) on Friday, 28-Sep-2007 14:19:47

What are animal crackers? I saw them mentioned in different topicks but i didn't understand what they are. I have the impression that it might be the droppings of an animal but i am not sure lol.

Post 47 by YankeeFanForLife! (Picapiedra: king of the boards!) on Friday, 28-Sep-2007 14:20:22

Post 48 by YankeeFanForLife! (Picapiedra: king of the boards!) on Friday, 28-Sep-2007 14:21:44

They are crackers shaped like animuls.

Post 49 by nikos (English words from a Greek thinking brain) on Friday, 28-Sep-2007 14:25:05

lol. I thought animal crackers were something bad. I didn't know it is something somebody can actually eat.

Haha! But I tell you they are really good.

Post 51 by nikos (English words from a Greek thinking brain) on Friday, 28-Sep-2007 14:36:54

It must be an american thing. In England i didn't see anyone eating them. I have a friend studying in America. When he come back to Cyprus i will ask him to bring some with him.

Yes but the chocolate ones.

Post 54 by YankeeFanForLife! (Picapiedra: king of the boards!) on Friday, 28-Sep-2007 18:13:18

Trust me man you are going to like them. If in when you have them, you can have them with a glass of milk.

Post 55 by nikos (English words from a Greek thinking brain) on Friday, 28-Sep-2007 18:15:43

Do you mean chocolate crackers? It is becoming more confusing now. In England crackers are like biskits but savery and they put cheese on them. In America they must be sweet if they have chocolate. lol. It is interesting how countries do things in different ways.

Post 56 by YankeeFanForLife! (Picapiedra: king of the boards!) on Friday, 28-Sep-2007 18:37:31

Oh na Iwas talking about gramCrackers, we also have them in chocolate. But they are very good also.

Post 57 by Blue Velvet (I've got the platinum golden silver bronze poster award.) on Friday, 28-Sep-2007 19:01:44

Nikos, animal crackers are little "crackers" that really are more like little cookies, shaped like animals. Raskolnikov went off on a rant about them one time. It is still probably the funniest board topic I have ever seen on the zone.

Post 58 by Godzilla-On-Toast (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Saturday, 29-Sep-2007 4:09:59

I'm actually partial to the cinnamon graham crackers myself. And thank you, Jeannie, for making the coffee. Here, I've got chocolate chip cookies and here are some frosted oatmeal cookies which are most scrumptious for dipping in the coffee if you like that sort of thing.

Post 59 by nikos (English words from a Greek thinking brain) on Saturday, 29-Sep-2007 7:48:19

lol Becky. I think that's why i had the impression that animal crackers are animal droppings from Raskolnikof's topick there. I thought that if he was ranting there that it should be something bad lol.
What about some Greek coffee? Does anyone want some?

Post 60 by blbobby (Ooo you're gona like this!) on Saturday, 29-Sep-2007 8:22:50

Oh my gosh yes, Greek coffee. I've only had some once from a friend who said it was authentic, and I guess it was. It was very strong and very sweet. Of course, I was served the coffee after an all night discussion of ancient Greece and philosophy, so the remembrance of the coffee might be tied up with the wonderful discussion. But, thanks, I'd love some Greek coffee. Anyone for a wonderful discussion/debate about philosophy? I tend to be a rational positivist myself--you know, Rudolph Karnapp and his ilk. When you think of it, though, the boards on the zone might be a lot like I imagine the Agora to have been in ancient Athens.

For the uninitiated, the board post by Raskolnikov we are talking about can be found
here.

I sure hope the html works on this. Anyway, it was a rant posted by Raskolnikov, with tongue-in-cheek ranting about the filthiness of animal cracker manufacturers. At that time, Raskolnikov's screen name was "Erie silence". For some reason, that topic caught a bunch of us off guard, and we had a lot of fun with it for about a week. I think it is the funniest board topic I've ever seen on here.

Question for the coffee lovers. Do you usually drink your coffee alone or when you are with friends or family? In Cyprus coffee is kind of a social drink. It is usual for people to meet with each other and have a conversation with a cup of coffee.
Also another question. Do you drink coffee the same time every day for example one in the morning, one in the afternoon etc or do you make coffee when you feel like it? I feel like an interviewer now lol.

Post 107 by ~*Dark_Light*~ (I just keep on posting!) on Monday, 01-Oct-2007 10:35:57

{smiles}

Both!
I enjoy a nice relaxing cup of coffee when I am home, ither alone or with some of my Family present.
ALSO, I enjoy coffee, having a cup while with in the company of friends.

Usually, though not always I enjoy a cup of coffee upon early mornin' arising.
Perhaps a cup or so later on in the day.
May a cup in the evening.
Sometimes a cup of coffee at 3am.

I realize this may sound like ALOT of the beverage coffee consumed in a day and yet not so much so. I try and make only the amount that at a given time will be served or thought to be so.
Like usually I make up {brew} only 2 cups at a time and Not an entire 8-12 cup pot of coffee. {unless having Friends/Family over and that would be an amount served in say the time of an evening's gathering, this one example..}

I mostly drink coffee in the morning. I love to share a cup with someone but now its just me!

Post 109 by blbobby (Ooo you're gona like this!) on Monday, 01-Oct-2007 11:38:13

I always fix a pot of coffee early in the morning (about 3:30 a.m.), and it's just me that drinks it.

I have a routine where I make a pot when I first wake up and read the new york times while I drink it.

I rarely fix coffee any other time during the day, but, if I'm with friends at a restraunt, I'll order a cup of coffee as a social drink.

Post 112 by Godzilla-On-Toast (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Monday, 01-Oct-2007 19:38:23

It varies. I make a full pot of coffee each weekend and my fiancee and I just ahve a cup when we want one and a lot of time that means we just have it on our own. However, we might go out as a couple to a coffe place like Tully's and have a special fancy coffee drink as kind of a special treat just for us two without having to take our son along who doesn't appreciate coffee anyhow.

Post 113 by ~*Dark_Light*~ (I just keep on posting!) on Monday, 01-Oct-2007 22:22:06

Cinnemon roll is like a pastry, a danish, a sweet donut dough coiled round n- round with cinnemon in between the layers and a frosted creamy suger icing atop. It is really a very rich desert. I only had half. I will have the other have again as it is all wrapped nice in plastic wrap. ~*TMN*~

Yes i had fried chicken before. Do you mean the kfc style chicken which is covered in bred crams? I like it a lot.
Ant thunderous midnight, this desert you described sounds very good. I don't think we have it here lol.

Post 117 by Godzilla-On-Toast (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Tuesday, 02-Oct-2007 12:19:47

Yes, KFC makes some very good fried chicken, but of course there are ways to make it at home. I'm unfortunately not all that well-educated about Greek food so I can't tell you what might be an equivalent to a cinnamon roll. One thing you should know about the pastry cinnamon rolls are made of is that I think in most cases, if you make the rolls yourself, the dough is such that it has to rise, kind of like how certain types of doughnuts are made. So the end result is this airy pastry full of cinnamon and sugar and sometimes some sweet icing on top and also some people prefer raisins in the dough. Probably the best thing you could do is find a website that features recipes for all kinds of foods and look up cinnamon rolls.

Rumors!!
Have you not ever made your own Fruit cake?

There are various types of batters. A light batter with marchino cherries and then to have a fresh serving of fruit on the side, like for example, oranges.. mmmm so good. A nice cup of hot tea goes well with this holiday snack.

Post 132 by Godzilla-On-Toast (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Wednesday, 03-Oct-2007 1:07:49

I think our TMN has it right. That's just a rumor because there are people like my eccentric self who actually like fruitcake. Would I like absolutely any fruitcake? Probably not! But the best I've had were actually homemade ones. Perhaps the bad fruitcakes are the ones that are either pre-made or that have sat around for too long because people are skeptical to have a hunk of it. Just guessing, mind you, as I'm no expert on the stuff and I've only had it on occasion. Can also agree with you on the tea thing. By the way, here in the Seattle area we have a local variety of tea known as Market Spice tea. It's a flavored tea with lots of cinnamon and spices and orange flavor added. The closest equivalent would be Good Earth's Sweet and Spicy flavor of tea. I intend to pick up some of this Market Spice tea soonishly. I also await when the good apple cider hits the stores. Nope, the store brand and the Treetop brand are not good. We're interested in cider with that certain appliness you can't get from mere apple juice. Oh, and as for things to ahve with coffee, we just finished off a package of some cheap brand of frosted oatmeal cookies which are ideal for dipping in your coffee. I know I found some at a dollar store and I think this one was one of the store barands from a local grocery store.
